chenab valley people.s association demands

State President Chenab valley people’s Association(CVPA) Fairoz Khan has expressed grief over the incident and said transport policy should be changed
Chenab valley people’s Association(CVPA) State President Fairoz Khan has expressed grief over the incident and urged the state government to provide speedy medical treatment to the injured and announce ex-gratia compensation to the deceased passenger.
22 persons are dead in an accident near Batyaas (Gandoh) Apparently matador which was on its way from Gandoh to Thathri fell in a Nullah just 4 Kilometers away from Gandoh near Batyaas. The accidents in Chenab valley has becoming a common routine the traffic department and transport commissioner should take some steps to stop this menace because human life’s are precious.
Fairoz Khan expressed shock on the degrading transport system in Jammu and Kashmir. He said that it was a shame that even after the enormous growth in the transport problems, the State did not have an effective road transport policy. He asked the policy makers to wake up.
He said that it is the matter of great concern that the number of accidents in Doda , Ramban and Kishtwar areas i.e chenab Valley are increasing day by day. Most of the accidents are reported from the Chenab valley. In every two months 30 to 40 people die and in round about same places and roads..
The drivers are driving without licenses driving at full speed and with people packed doubled the capacity of the vehicle they have, the condition of the roads is also very deplorable.
The accidents happen again and again in the chenab valley. Some times in Ramban , sometimes in Doda and some times in Kishtwar. The chenab valley has become one of the most accident prone areas of the state . When a person rides a bus or matador in morning he does not know whether he will reach home in the evening and his family keep waiting and remains at toes till he reaches.
CVPA already have protest against the accidents in Chenab valley
But the transport department and authorties are waiting for something don't know what. And traffic police department goes on sleeping when an overloaded bus goes by any post. Actually they are not sleeping but they are taking bribes. Thats what matters to them not human lives. This raises a big question mark to both the departments. Do human lives mean anything to them or not. The conditions of link roads in the Doda, Kishtwar, and Ramban is very bad and are the most prone to accidents . Its very dangerous to drive on these roads.
KHANasked the transport department to verify the ground situtation and take proper steps to not only make rules but also see to that such rules are properly implemented so that the occurrence of such accidents will be curbed.
he said that the accident are not only a loss to the bereaved families but to state exchequer too. He said that in places where there is shortage of buses the state should deploy SRTC buses .
The traffic department only work for two or there days or maximum a week after the accident. After that they start their daily rountine of taking hafta/mahina. This behaviour will not be tolerated any more..
An enquiry should be set into the matter and courrpt officials should be suspended till enquiry completes.
The whole chenab valley and particularly CVPA is with the bereaved families in this time of great rdmorse and CVPA appeals the state government to give the maximum benefits to the bereaved families
KHAN asked the Transport Commissioner how many more accidents and deaths he wanted before framing any proper transport regulating policy in the state.
He warned the transport department that if the matter is not looked into on priority basis the CVPA will come on the roads against such operators and the transport department will be responsible for any consequences that follow. He warned the department not to check the patience and stop teasing the CHENAB VALLEY PEOPLE otherwise it shall lead to serious and disastrous consequences.
